So while Julie and I were in Newport, RI we had some spare time so we decided to stop by a few of the Vanderbilt mansions belonging to the Preservation Society of Newport. Magnificent places...too much to talk about and I'm sure Julie remembers more about them than I so visit http://www.getoutanddothings.com later and she'll have more info about them out there soon. For now, first up was the mansion called The Breakers. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Next up on our mansion extravaganza in Newport was Marble House. I'll let Julie tell you about it on http://www.getoutanddothings.com but one big surprise was an asian inspired building called the Tea House behind this place. Really neat.

Rosecliff was the final of the three mansions we visited in Newport. It was a little different than the others in that it was designed primarily for entertaining. The owner, a young lady, was intent on raising her social status and so events at the house were a must. The larger entertainment rooms were indicative of this.

While in Lincoln, NH we were trying to find things to do. Julie suggested we get a pass to Flume Gorge and also include the tram ride to the top of Mt. Cannon. After we hiked up Flume Gorge we headed over to the tram a few miles up the road. It was super windy and someone told me the tram may be shut down due to high winds but we were lucky and it was running. The tram was swaying back and forth the whole way up....more at the top as you can tell by the expression on Julie's face. About the second from the last tower we passed he had to time it because it had the most movement. WHEW! Made it. It was so cold and windy at the top that we're hiking really fast so we can get to the top of the observation tower, get our pictures and see the views then get back to the tram. OMG it was cold LOL!
