We picked up a stray...
For your listening and viewing pleasure...
Traffic to this side of the island was bad so we didn't get to finish the trail. But what we saw was beautiful.
Today's morning cultural excursion was the Iolani Palace. Quick bit of trivia... Hawaii is the only state that has had a Royal palace for a king and queen. Learning a little bit about the history of Hawaii I feel a little bit bad for the people here. Imperialism was rife back then. They were bound to get taken over by somebody. King Kamehameha united the islands after being told that someone would eventually seek to absorb the islands. Great to learn about all this history.
Part 2 of our culturally and historically enlightenning day today was a luau. Great food and entertainment. Didn't get to take pics or video of the ending show but got some of everything else.
Thank God for air conditioning. Diamond head was hot.
A hike up Diamond Head to get the day started.
Wet afternoon at Weimea Falls. Got to the top and it started raining hard. Julie and Aaron stepped in the pool below the falls. Pretty cold. We hid for a bit and dried off and waited for the rain to pass before heading out. Neat botanicals at this place.
Lunch at Rainbow Drive In. Pretty decent burger. Julie and Aaron got a beef plate. I would go back.
Humbling day today. This helps drive me to be a better person so that when I ask myself if I'm living a life worthy of the sacrifices of those before me I don't have to think about the answer.

Visited Pearl Harbor. A lot to think about. So many lives lost. Got to go out and see the USS Arizona. A great memorial to those lost.
Part 1 of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum which is co-located on the Pearl Harbor grounds. Interestingly I couldn't 'check in' on Facebook because we got there on the very first day it opened. What are the odds lol? Anyway, pretty well put together. Glad we had the timing on our side.

Sunset Cruise before dinner. Great way to end the day. Had some good whale watching and got to see Diamond Head from the water. Neat stuff!
On our Rotten Tomatoes list for our Hawaii trip is the Dole Plantation. 3 things to do and a 45 minutes wait for the train... And that's during covid 19 when there aren't many people there. Gonna have to say this place isn't worth the time to get there.
Really neat! Got to go on the USS Bowfin at the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor. REALLY well put together. They keep this meticulously clean on the inside. Very impressive.
Another obligatory family vacay photo. This was was prior to touring the USS Bowfin at Pearl Harbor.
