OMG OMG OMG! Luuuuuunch!
Good timing once again. Lunch time! So spoiled this trip.
A lot of vibrant colors in some of those pools. Lots to see here. I couldn't get Avery to go pet a bison. He must be pretty smart.
We came back for seconds of Old Faithful after lunch. It didn't disappoint.
We had to stop for this one.
Last stop of day 1 in Yellowstone.
Doesn't look like a lot from the road but this was pretty neat. Or first stop on day two. Avery was our tour guide in this one. Julie saved us from going the wrong way and having to experience a step incline. There was a really active and violent cauldron at the top.
Beautiful falls and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone.
Canyon Village and Yellowstone Lake. The ravens were everywhere and HUGE! The lake was huge too.
Avery was our tour guide on this one again and helped navigate us around. The interaction with the lake at the bottom of the hill with the active geysers was really neat and unique. Good stop.
The leading cause of Yellowstone traffic jams is...
(Hint: Zoom in)
First stop on day three...Fort Yellowstone and the visitor center. Walking around these buildings reminded me of buildings we had at North Ft Lewis. Army buildings sort of have a feel lol. And of course Avery guided us... between chasing golfers.
These springs weren't quite as dramatic as others but interesting all the same. A lot of boardwalk and stairs. If you can, have someone drop you off at the top by Canary Spring and have them meet you at the bottom as you work your way down.
The Arch was beautiful. Especially with the mountains in the background.
If given the choice between following a bison in the road in Yellowstone National Park or this here for 5 miles...I choose the bison every time.
Wow! Beautiful! Quite a few of these overlooks but this one was super beautiful.
On our way from Island Park, ID to Victor, ID we decided to stop at the Grizzly and Wolf Center. The wolves are pretty dang big. Avery got to go in and hide food for the bears. He hid it really well but they found it anyway. Neat stop.
We came. We saw. We conquered! We did the full loop inside Yellowstone over the last few days. Amazing how large it is. Fun times!
More beautiful waterfalls. Upper and Lower Mesa on the way to Victor, ID.
Good morning from the Tetons!
Our views today are phenomenal! I've found Eden. They renamed it Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
Lunch time! Julie has been the picnic master on this trip. Thanks for taking care of us!
Always have to stop and learn a thing or two. Loved the windows facing the mountains. Watched a pretty good movie about animal migration in the Yellowstone area. Some surprising information.
I'm not coming home. You can't make me.
First stop this morning was the National Elk Refuge. They said in the winter about 9600 to come down to the refuge.
Quick stop to see Mormon Row over by the Tetons. Pretty interesting. Avery was more interested in the ground squirrels.
Took a side road to the Signal Mountain Summit. Great views as with everywhere around here. The mobile phone tower might have something to do with the name. God sprinkled arrowleaf balsamroot that looks like daisies over this entire state. They're literally everywhere. Beautiful.
Last stop today. The Coulter Bay Visitor Center. The boats with the mountains in the background was my favorite photo here. Loved how the trees framed the shot.
Picnic lunch at Jenny Lake. Dave took the photo. Avery said that since it has half of Dave's face and half of Avery's face we're calling this photo "Davery".
Decided to get the juices flowing this morning with a hike around Jenny Lake. Technically half way around. Took a boat to the other side and hiked back. Ran into two moose on the way back. We got off the trail to the uphill side and let one of them walk the trail past us (see video). Great way to start the day.
